The bagpipes and drums are synonymous with Scotland and the Scotland County Highland Games will feature competitors from throughout the Eastern USA and beyond competing for prizes and awards. Solo competitions in both piping and drumming will commence at 9 a.m. and band competition will begin around 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
All competitions are officially sanctioned by the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association.
Bands from both Carolinas, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida and Virginia are expected. The massed pipe bands will perform twice during the day – at opening ceremonies at noon and at closing ceremonies at approximately 4:45 p.m.
The winner of the Amateur Grade I Solo Piping competition will receive a spot to compete at “An Cros Greine” (The Sun Belt) invitational amateur competition to be held in Orlando, Florida in November.
